Transits
Current planetary positions activating your birth chart.
Transits are the ongoing movements of planets in the sky right now. When they form aspects to your natal planets, they "activate" those areas of your chart. This is how astrology makes predictions - by seeing what's being triggered in your personal map.
Example
Saturn transiting your 10th house might bring career challenges and opportunities for advancement.
Cultural Context
Transit astrology developed in the Hellenistic period and remains the most common predictive technique. Unlike progressions (internal development), transits represent external events and circumstances that activate your potential.
Famous Example
Princess Diana died during a Pluto transit to her Ascendant — one of the most intense transits possible, signifying complete transformation of identity. Astrologers don't predict death, but such transits mark major life-or-death turning points.
Did You Know?
Outer planet transits (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) are most significant because they last weeks to years. A Pluto transit can take 2-3 years to complete, fundamentally restructuring the area of life it touches.
