Total solar eclipses are visible from any given location on Earth only once every 375 years on average. The path of totality is typically only about 100 miles wide. If you're just outside the path, you see a partial eclipse — impressive, but nothing compared to the dramatic darkness, temperature drop, and visible corona of totality.
